1958 - Joseph Lastie Jr. was born on this day. A drummer and a native of New Orleans, Louisiana. He studied jazz with Willie Metcalf, took lessons from Clyde Harris in New York. He played in the pit band for the New Orleans musical One Mo' Time and was invited to substitute on drums at Preservation Hall in 1989 and has done so ever since. During his career, he's played with Professor Longhair, Irma Thomas, Fats Domino & Narvin Kimball.
