1959 - Sidney Desvigne, traditional jazz trumpeter from New Orleans, Louisiana died on this day. He began his career at Rice Café and 101 Ranch in Storyville. He played with the 'Maple leaf Orchestra' and Excelsior Brass Band' and led his own band the played on the riverboats in the 1920's. He also led his own swing orchestra throughout the 1930's. Sidney move to California in 1946 and remained there until his death.
