1960 - Willie Prejeaud, traditional cornetist and trumpetist from New Orleans, Louisiana died on this day. He was born in 1895, and was a regular with the Eureka Brass Band throughout his life. He was known for his music reaking skills, and was a professional musician at 10 years of age. Willie worked with the Tuxedo Brass Band, Maple Leaf Orchestra, John Robichaux and Sam Morgan. During the Depression he lead his own groups, and was a pupil of Manuel Perez. He died in New Orleans. |
