1946 - Leo Nocentelli was born on this day. Guitarist and composer of R&B and Funk from the 7th Ward in New Orleans. Leo earned fame by hooking up with the 'Hawkettes' and was the songwriting force behind the legendary 'Meters'. While with the 'Meters', he penned their anthem 'Cissy Strut'. Before 'Meters' fame he backed Otis Redding, Clyde McPhatter and 'Frogman' Henry amongst others. |
