1902 - Frank Lastie was born on this day. A church deacon and a drummer from New Orleans, Louisiana. He was part of a New Orleans musical family, which indluded all three of his sons Melvin, David and Walter and his daughter Betty Ann. He is also the grandfather of master drummer Herlin Riley. He played drums in a band with Louis Armstrong as a youth. He was one of the first to play drums in a church. Frank passed away at the age of 90 in April 1993.
