1955 - Joseph 'Kid' Avery, trombonist from Waggaman, Louisiana died on this day. He studied under Dave Perkins and played with the Tulane Orchestra until 1922. He also spent time playing with Evan Thomas' 'Black Eagles' and the 'Yelping Hounds' in Crowley, Louisiana. He was also a member of the 'Tuxedo Brass Band' and led his own group in the 1950's. He died in his hometown of Waggaman, Louisiana.
