1970 - Slim Harpo (James Moore), legendary blues harmonica player, singer and guitarist from Lobdel, Louisiana passed away on this day. He donned the name 'Harmonica Slim' in his early days, and like others, he worked juke joints and parties. He was part of the Excello label family, which included Harpo's brother-in-law, Lightnin' Slim. Harpo's best known hits were 'I'm A King Bee' and 'Scratch My Back'. Harpo died in Baton Rouge.
