1936 - Eddie Lang (Langlois) was born on this day. An R&B guitarist and a native of New Orleans, Louisiana. He was heavily influenced by Eddie “Guitar Slim” Jones, by far the city’s most successful exponent of the blues guitar craft. He cut soul records for Joe Banashak’s Seven B label. In the 70's he returned to small band blues with “Food Stamp Blues” becoming his best ever seller. At the end of the 70s he was sadly incapacitated by a stroke and he passed away in 1985 at the age of 49.
