1999 - Johnny Reininger, traditional jazz clarinetist and saxophonist from New Orleans, Louisiana died on this day at the age of 91. He was a popular dance-band leader and was one of the original Dawn Busters of WWL Radio in New Orleans. He played with Ellis Stratakos in the 1930's at the Jung Hotel, and also with Leon Prima. He also was a member of the house band at L'Enfants in the 1950's.
