1991 - Cleveland Chenier, a frottoir (rub-board) player and a native of Opelousas, Louisiana passed away on this day at the age of 69. He was the older brother of "The King Of Zydeco", Clifton Chenier. began playing with his brother in the dance clubs of Lake Charles, Louisiana in the 1940's. Except for a brief period in the early 1960s, when he performed with Lightning Hopkins, he continued to work with his brother's group until he retired in 1990.
