1912 - Alvin Alcorn was born on this day. Traditional jazz trumpeter from New Orleans. He has played with such legends as A.J. Piron, Edward 'Kid' Ory, Papa Celestin and Octave Crosby. He was also a member of the Young Tuxedo Brass Band and the Onward Brass Band. He also led the Imperial Brass Band and represented New Orleans during the US Bicentennial Celebration in France.
