| 1996 - Paul Crawford, traditional jazz multi-instrumentalist from Atmore Alabama passed away on this day in New Orleans, Louisiana at the age of 71. Among his musical accomplishments were trombone, baritone horn, string bass, tuba in addition to being a bandleader and arranger. He was the co-leader of the Crawford-Ferguson Night Owls and recorded with the Lakefront Loungers. Later in his career he played with Punch Miller at Preservation Hall in New Orleans, Louisiana. He was a contributor in the development of the jazz archive at Tulane University. |
