1965 - Spencer Williams, a traditional jazz pianist from New Orleans, Louisiana passed away on this day. He was raised by the most notorious of the madam's of Storyville, Lulu White. In his early years, he worked as a Storyville Professor, but is best known as the composer of 'Basin Street Blues', 'Mahogany Hall Stomp', and others. Spencer died in New York.
