| 1941 - Erving Charles Jr. was born on this day. A bassist and a native of New Orleans, Louisiana. He played with a who's who of New Orleans musicians including Fats Domino, Dave Bartholomew, Snooks Eaglin, Willie "Tee" Turbinton, Irma Thomas, Marva Wright, and Clarence "Frogman" Henry just to name a few. He was also known for playing a variety of styles including R&B, Jazz and Rock. Erving passed away at the age of 61 in 2003. |
