| 1969 - Billy Lambert, traditional jazz drummer from New Orleans, Louisiana died on this day. He was born in 1893, and was an early advocate of dixieland. He was a member of 'Tom Brown's band from Dixieland, and made the historic trip to Chicago in 1915 that unleashed the music of New Orleans on the rest of the county. Lambert died in New Orleans. |
