| 1959 - Ivan Neville was born on this day. A multi-instrumentalist musician, singer, songwriter and a native of New Orleans, Louisiana. He is the son of Neville Brothers singer Aaron Neville, and has a resume that includes a who's who of the music business. He's released 4 solo CD's under his own name that included a top 40 hit "Not Just Another Girl". He played with and appeared on several Neville Brother records, as well as his father’s solo records. He performed in Bonnie Raitt's band from 1985 to 1987. He also contributed keyboards to two Rolling Stones albums, 1986’s Dirty Work and 1994’s Voodoo Lounge as well as being a member of Keith Richards’ solo band the X-Pensive Winos. He's appeared on several other artists’ records, including Don Henley, Bonnie Raitt, Robbie Robertson, Rufus, Paula Abdul, and Delbert McClinton. He was also a member of the Spin Doctors in 1999–2000. In 2003, he formed his own band Dumpstaphunk, which continues to tour, and appeared on the Late Show with David Letterman. |
