1938 - Curly Mays was born on this day. A Blues guitarist and native of Maxie, Acadia Parish, Louisiana (out from Crowley). He was the nephew of Clarence "Gatemouth" Brown. During his career he played with Etta James, Plas Johnson and Jackie Wilson. He also led bands of his own in Houston and San Antonio.
