1900 - Amedee Breaux was born on this day. A cajun accordionist and a native of Robert's Cove, Louisiana. He recorded about 20 songs between 1928 and 1951. He and his brother Ophe were the earliest to record the song "Jolie Blonde", under the title of "Ma Blonde Est Partie". The Cajun Music Hall of Fame named Breaux as one of its first inductees in 1997, placing him among the ranks of such Cajun musicians as Dewey Balfa, Nathan Abshire, Joe Bonsall, Fernest "Man" Abshire, and Shirley Ray Bergeron. He passed away in 1975. |
