1959 - Minor (Ram) Hall, traditional jazz drummer from Sellers, Louisiana passed away on this day at 62. He is the brother of another New Orleans drummer, Fred 'Tubby' Hall. 'Ram' started before 1920, substituting jobs for his brother. He went to Chicago in 1916 and then to California in 1921 with Joe 'King' Oliver. Shortly thereafter, he joined 'Kid' Ory and participated in the New Orleans jazz revival of the forties with Ory. |
