1938 - John Chaffe was born on this day. Traditional jazz banjo and tuba player from New Orleans, Louisiana. A virtuoso who co-founded the 'Last Straws'. Also recorded with the esteemed Dr. Edmond Souchon, jazz historian. John also played with the Louisiana Repertory Ensemble. he passed away in July 1997 at the age of 59.
