1907 - Ernest (Doc) Paulin was born on this day. A trumpeter, bandleader and a native of Wallace, Louisiana in St. John the Baptist parish. His family was ver musical as his father played accordion and his uncle played trombone. he performed actively from the 1920's until the 1980's and 6 of his 13 children play music professionally. Paulin recorded in the early 1960s with Emile Barnes on Icon Records, and in 1980 his brass band made an LP released on Folkways. He also performs on the CD by his sons' 1996 Paulin Brothers Jazz Band The Tradition Continues. He passed away at the age of 100 in November of 2007.
