1908 - Henderson Chambers was born on this day. A trombonist and a native of Alexandria, Louisiana. He played with Louis Armstrong until 1943, then he worked with Don Redman, Sy Oliver, Lucky Millinder, and Count Basie. In the 1950s he spent time with Cab Calloway, Doc Cheatham, Duke Ellington, and Mercer Ellington. He also worked with Ray Charles for 2 years. He passed away in 1967 at 59 years of age.
