1966 - Walter Decou, traditional jazz pianist from New Orleans Louisiana died on this day. He was born in 1890 and was a band piano player during the Storyville days, not to be mistaken with the 'Piano Professors'. He led his own groups during the twenties and recorded with Sam Morgan on the famous 1927 recordings. He also recorded with Buddy Bolden's protégé, Bunk Johnson. Walter died in New Orleans.
