1917 - Matthew (Hogman) Maxey was born on this day. A singer and guitarist and native of Haynesville, Louisiana. He is most well-known for his recordings by Harry Oster of him in Angola state prison, especially his rendition of Stagger-Lee. He never recorded anything outside of a prison environment. |
