1966 - Freddie Assunto, traditional jazz trombonist from New Orleans, Louisiana died on this day. He was the brother of the 'Dukes of Dixieland' leader, Frank and the son of Dukes player Jac Assunto. Freddie spent his entire career as a member of the 'Dukes of Dixieland' and was married to their singer, Betty Owens. Freddie died in Las Vegas.
