1969 - Matt Perrine was born on this day. A sousaphonist, bassist and a native of Sacramento, CA. He moved to New Orleans in 1992, and since then has played with a who's who of New Orleans music, including Ellis and Branford Marsalis, Lillian and John Boutee, Kermit Ruffins, The Johnny Vidacovich Trio, the Danza Quartet featuring Tom McDermott and Evan Christopher, Henry Butler, and Leigh "Li'l Queenie" Harris. Additionally, his sousaphone projects include New Orleans Nightcrawlers, the Danza Quartet, the Hot Club of New Orleans, Paul Sanchez and many other local bands. He released his first solo CD called Sunflower City in 2007. |
