1909 - Ray Baudac was born on this day. Traditional jazz drummer from New Orleans, Louisiana. Played with plenty of big names and gained world acclaim. Among the groups he performed with were Joe Venuti, Johnny Bayersdorffer, The Dorsey brothers, Bob Crosby and the Bobcats, Jimmy Dorsey and Jack Teagarden. He retired in San Antonio, Texas in the late seventies, but performed occasionally. he passed away in January 1988 ath the age of 78.
