| 1897 - Joseph Rena was born on this day. Traditional jazz drummer from New Orleans, Louisiana. His teen years were spent playing with his famous brother, Kid Rena. He then performed with Wesley Don's Liberty Bell Orchestra and Kid Rena's Dixie Jazz Band. He rejoined his brother in 1940, and stayed with him until he retired from music to become an Evangelical Baptist preacher. Joseph died in New Orleans on December 26, 1973. |
