| 1890 - Johnny St. Cyr was born on this day. Banjo player and guitarist from New Orleans, Louisiana. St. Cyr was a member of King Oliver's Creole Jazz Band in the 1920's that included most of the legendary traditional New Orleans jazz musicians. Among the luminaries in the band were Louis 'Satchmo' Armstrong, Lil' Hardin Armstrong, Edward 'Kid Ory, Johnny Dodds and his brother, Warren 'Baby' Dodds. St. Cyr died on June 17, 1966. |
