1988 - Leroy (Happy Fats) LeBlanc, a cajun accordionist, singer, composer and preservationist of Cajun culture passed away on this day at the age of 73. He was a native of Rayne, Acadia Parish, Louisiana. He began his career at 17 with Amedee Breaux and Joe Falcon. In 1935, he formed "The Rayne Bo Ramblers" which starred the talents of Eric Arcemeaux, and other great musicians. During his career he played alongside Doc Guidry, and Uncle Ambrose Thibodeaux, Luderin Darbonne, "Pee Wee Broussard, Doc Guidry, "Pappa Caro" Lamperez, Rex Champagne, and Crawford J. Vincent. |
