1904 - Charlie Hamilton was born on this day. Traditional jazz pianist and banjoist from Ama, Louisiana. His music career began with Evan Thomas' Black Eagles band in the late twenties. During the twenties and thirties, he mainly played with big bands and dance bands. He reverted back to traditional jazz in the sixties and frequently played Preservation Hall and toured with George Lewis. |
