| 1866 - John Robichaux was born on this day. Traditional jazz violinist, bassist and drummer from Thibodaux, Louisiana. He began as a bass drummer with the Excelsior Brass Band in 1891. He was very active as a bandleader in New Orleans until 1939. He then led a band at the Lyric Theater until 1927. John died in New Orleans in 1939. |
