2004 - Willie Egan (Willie Lee Egan) a boogie woogie singer and pianist born near Minden, Louisiana passed away on this day from cancer at the age of 70. Also often referred to as Robert "Willie" Egan. Willie has mentioned Amos Milburn, Hadda Brooks, Camille Howard and Nellie Lutcher as his main influences. He made his best music in the mid 1950's for the Mambo and Vita labels in Pasadena. At least six singles were released, which showed why he was known in L.A. clubs as the House Rocker. |
