1979 - Dolly Adams, jazz pianist, bassist and bandleader from New Orleans, died on this day. Her sons Placide, Jerry and Justin were also musicians. Her uncle was Manuel Manetta, a 'Piano Professor' in the Storyville brothels. Dolly is reputed to be one of the first pianists to play Preservation Hall.
