| 1977 - 1916 -Clarence Lemont (Benny) Moten - A bassist from New York City, who played with many jazz legends including some Louisiana natives. He was not related to painist Bennie Moten. In that number were 'Hot Lips' Page, Henry 'Red' Allen, Ivory Joe Hunter, Arnett Cobb, Ella Fitzgerald and Buck Clayton. He passed away in 1977 in New Orleans, Louisiana at the age of 60. - Age 96 |
