1979 - Andre Thierry was born on this day. A cajun accordion player, who was born in Northern California to parents from Basile and Jennings, Louisiana. He began teaching himself to play by listening to Clifton Chenier’s music. By age twelve, Andre formed his own band, "Zydeco Magic.” Andre was regularly invited to play with numerous bands, such as the late John Delafose, his son, Geno Delafose, and many local Zydeco and Cajun bands, including the late Danny Poullard (California Cajun Orchestra), MotorDude Zydeco, and Zydeco Flames. He is known as an exceptional musician who is known for his ability to merge traditional Zydeco music with hip-hop, blues, jazz and rock. He and his band have released several CD's.
