2000 - Jimmie Davis, Country and gospel singer, and former Governer from Beech Springs, Louisiana passed away on this day at the age of 101. He was a professor of history, and appeared on the 'Louisiana Hayride' show. Davis recorded for Decca Records for decades and released over 40 albums. He was best known for penning and singing 'You Are My Sunshine'. He is a member of the Country Music Hall of Fame and The Louisiana Music Hall of Fame.
