1936 - Frank Duson, traditional valve trombonist from Algiers, Louisiana died on this day. Frank was born in 1881 and played with Buddy Bolden in the early 1900's. He took over Bolden's band when he was committed to an institution. Worked on the riverboats and cabaret's leading his own band and sparingly, with Louis Dumaine. He was active until his death in New Orleans.
