1937 - Bobby Parker was born on this day. A blues guitarist and a native of Lafayette, Louisiana. He was raised in Los Angeles and by the 1950's, and is best known for his single "Watch Your Step". He was playing lead guitar for Bo Diddley in the 50's, and toured with Paul Williams, Sam Cooke, Jackie Wilson, LaVern Baker, Clyde McPhatter, and the Everly Brothers among others. In the late 1960's he had a chance to sign with Swan Song Records and Jimmy Page, but that did not work out, and he's spent the remainder of his career playing blues clubs, mostly in Washington, DC.
