| 1906 - Richard H. 'Dick' Mackie was born on this day. Traditional jazz cornetist from New Orleans, Louisiana. 'Dick' was one of the founding members of the 'New Orleans Owls' along with his brother 'Red'. He went on tour with commercial bands led by Hal Kemp and Kay Kayser, and sometimes taught young musicians. |
