| 1931 - Joseph Charles "Mr. Google Eyes" Augustus was born on this day. He's also gone by the names Joe August and Mr. G. He was an R&B singer and one of the originals. Along with Paul Gayten, Annie Laurie and Roy Brown, August pioneered the genre in New Orleans, and was one of the youngest singers of the time. He cut his last record in 1965, and returned to New Orleans, He passed away in October 1992. |
