1974 - Theodore 'Ted' Purnell, traditional jazz saxophonist and clarinetist from New Orleans, Louisiana passed away on this day. He was born in 1903, and performed on the historic recordings of the 'Jones-Collins Astoria Hot Eight' in 1929. Subsequently, he played with Sidney Desvigne, and in street parades. Ted died in New Orleans. |
