1887 - Peter Bocage was born on this day. Traditional jazz trumpeter and trombonist from Algiers, Louisiana. Early in his career, he played with 'Original Superior Orchestra', 'Original Tuxedo Orchestra' and 'Onward Brass Band' with Joe 'King' Oliver. He then played with the A.J. Piron Orchestra and wrote 'Mama's Gone Good-bye'. Bocage was the brother of guitarist, Charles Bocage, and died in his hometown of Algiers in December of 1967.
