2006 - Barbara George (Barbara Ann Smith) passed away on this day. Native singer from Smithridge, Louisiana. She began singing in church until being discovered by Jesse Hill. She is most widely known for her hit "I Know (You Don't Love Me No More)", which topped the R&B charts in 1961 and has proven a popular cover item ever since. She had never been in the studio before she brought her extremely catchy melody to Harold Battiste's fledgling A.F.O. Barbara passed away on August 10, 2006.
