1875 - Willie Cornish was born on this day. Traditional jazz valve trombone player from New Orleans, Louisiana. He was an early jazz pioneer and played with Buddy Bolden. He was also a veteren of the Spanish-American War. After 1903 he played almost only in brass bands. He joined the Eureka Brass Band shortly after it was formed. Willie died in New Orleans in January, 1942.
