1990 - Sing Miller, a jazz pianist and a native of New Orleans, Louisiana passed away on this day at the age of 75. Early in his career, he sang with the Harmonizing Browns Quartet and played banjo. He did freelance work solo and as an accompanist in New Orleans in the 1930s. After World War II, he played with Earl Foster's band until 1961. Then, he was a regular at Preservation Hall, working with Kid Thomas Valentine, Kid Sheik Colar, The Humphrey Brothers, Jim Robinson, and Polo Barnes. |
