1966 - Wellman Braud, a Traditional jazz string bassist from St. James Parish, Louisiana passed away on this day at 75. Played in the Storyville district at Tom Anderson's and the Terminal Saloon until 1913. He went to Chicago and performed with Sugar Johnny Smith and the Charles Elgar Orchestra until finally doing a 10 year stint with Duke Ellington.
