| 1897 - Isaiah Morgan was born on this day. Traditional jazz cornetist and trumpeter from Bertrandville, Louisiana. In the early twenties, he started his own 'Young Morgan Band'. He studied with his brother Sam, and played on the recordings of the Sam Morgan jazz band in the 1920's. After his brother's stroke, he held the band together and on tour on the Gulf Coast. He died in New Orleans on May 16, 1966. |
