1933 - Roosevelt (Baby Face) Willette was born on this day. An organist and a native of New Orleans, Louisiana. There is some thought that he may have been born in Little Rock, Arkansas. His musical roots and he started out playing the piano for various gospel groups. He played piano with the bands of King Kolax, Joe Houston, Johnny Otis and Big Jay McNeely before switching to organ. He signed with Blue Note Records, and recorded his debut album Face to Face. He died in 1971 at the age of 37.
