| 1963 - Eddie 'Daddy' Edwards, traditional jazz violinist and trombonist from New Orleans, Louisiana died on this day. Began playing violin in the silent movie theaters around 1910. He began playing trombone in the parades and played in the 'Reliance Brass Band' with Nick LaRocca. He and LaRocca founded the 'Original Dixieland Jazz Band' in 1916. He played infrequently after 1925. Edwards died in New York. |
