| 1972 - Russ Papalia, traditional jazz trombonist, string bassist and bandleader from New Orleans, Louisiana died on this day. He was born in 1903, and led the society dance orchestra for years. Early in his career, he performed with Tony Parenti, Johnny Dedroit, Irving Fazola and Johnny Bayersdorffer. Russ died in New Orleans. |
