1917 - One of the first recording royalty disputes was settled on this day. Clarinet player and New Orleans, Louisiana native, Alcide (Yellow) Nunez claimed he he co-wrote Livery Stable Blues by the Original Dixieland Jazz Band. The dispute was settled when the Judge decides that Nunez is not entitled to anything related to the song because "No living human being could listen to that result on the phonograph and discover anything musical in it." |
